What to expect during a Yoga Branding Session

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You being here and reading this means the world. Hopefully it also means that you’re considering booking a Bristol Yoga Branding session with me. YAY! This guide will hopefully prove helpful in understanding what to expect, ease any nerves and answer any questions you might have.

So, you’ve reached out. First things first is we jump on a video call. You get to know me, I get to know you. We’ll speak about your expectations for your shoot, what you are hoping to do with the images, and understand your envisioned location (indoor/outdoor). This is a no-obligation call so if you’re not feeling it afterwards, do not worry. I will follow up our call with an email highlighting all the goodness we spoke about with a link to book me. Yay. You’re not going anywhere now and we’re about to make the best freaking yoga photos you’ve ever seen.

Following the initial investment of 50% (see more here), we will move to building a mood board and completing a questionnaire. This allows me to get to know you on an even deeper level and understand what makes you tick. It also allows me to see what drew you to me, which pieces of my work you’ve resonated with and maybe a little behind why that may be. Knowing these things ensures that when we come together to make some magic, I have a foundation understanding of what you want in the back of my mind.

My process is really straightforward when it comes to yoga branding sessions. I always start off asking you to flow a bit. This is your time to do a warm-up practice if you haven’t yet that day or maybe some sun salutations. All I ask is you listen to your body and forget I’m even there. During this time I will be shooting around you. Going wide to incorporate the landscape we are in and going close to get those more intimate details (like above).

A few words of advice. If I’m not saying anything, just keep doing what you’re doing. We will have already established if there are some more specific yoga positions that you’re keen to capture so following this flow we will move into that. Additionally, there are a few that I love to capture so if your body/practice allow, I will slowly guide you into those.

So, that’s me and the process. Here are some of my recommendations for your Bristol Yoga Branding Session.

Yoga Mat

Despite the majority of my shoots being barefooted and on the grass a yoga mat offers a sure-sign that you are in-fact a yoga practitioner. It’s just a solid prop. Bring it along. This extends to yoga blocks as well. Introducing these elements also allows for your photos to scream accessibility so great for collecting imagery to market beginner yoga classes.

Attire

Something that screams YOU. I’m not someone to give style advice or suggest that you wear what you feel most comfortable in. All I ask is that it is representative of who you are - whoever that may be. I will however suggest that if you wear jewelry, wear it all. My yoga photo sessions zoom right in on those little moments and a bit of bling just makes it that much better.

Additionally, feel free to bring more than one outfit. My sessions are long enough to incorporate a change of clothing. This does allow for a bit more variety in your photos and can serve as a great way to get some classic head shots as well.

Last but not least

Something Symbolic

Something that is reflective of your practice or something you use to support others. Some examples are as follows…

TLDR: I’m Madison, an affordable and accessible Bristol Based Yoga Photographer. My tips are be you’re self, bring you yoga mat and anything else that is reflective of your practice. Wear whatever you want. I’m here for all the questions. Also my style is very hands off initially, you flow I shoot. Doing our thing. I’ll then guide you more specifically based on the plan we established prior to the shoot.
