Why I Love a Pre-Wedding Shoot (and Why You Will Too)

You’re here on my blog, which means you might be thinking about booking me—maybe even for your wedding… How awesome is that??? I seriously can't wait to hear all about your plans!

One of the things I swear by when it comes to wedding photography is the pre-wedding shoot. And not just because I get to take more photos (though, yes please)—I genuinely LOVE LOVE LOVE a pre-wedding shoot. It’s such a great opportunity for us to meet in person before your day. And trust me, that, my friend, is totally necessary.

Take S & H, for example. They booked me for their dreamy Somerset wedding in summer 2024. Earlier in the year, we met up for their pre-wedding shoot and created a bit of magic together at Dunraven Bay. This time together gave us the perfect chance to connect, shake off the nerves, and have a laugh—so by the time their wedding rolls around, we’re already mates (as the Brits would say).

Here’s what H had to say after our shoot:

“Even after turning up at the beach with slightly fuzzy heads, you made what we would usually find so awkward, so much fun. Thank you for making it such an enjoyable morning. We absolutely love the photos and can't wait to see what you come up with at the wedding x”

You can find some highlights from our pre-wedding shoot here.

Another big win of the pre-wedding shoot? You’ll have high-resolution images to use for your wedding invites, websites, or even just to frame around your home. J & B used their engagement photos to decorate their wedding website - which is such a lovely nod to our friendship but also allowed for a more elevated experience when visiting the site.

Here’s what J had to say about their experience:

“Madi is a very talented photographer who took our engagement photos. I would not have thought of having engagement photos taken before, but looking back on the photographs now, Madi captured the feeling of giddy excitement and fun that sums up mine and my partner's relationship perfectly. Madi was highly professional and made us both feel at ease during the session. She edited the photos quickly and sent them in a useful digital format. Highly recommend.”

Even if your wedding is just around the corner, I can always fast-track a few images for you to use. So, whether you're camera shy, keen to get to know me before the big day, or just fancy some sweet photos of you and your love—this is your sign.
