Answering Your Most-Asked Questions- Insights from a Newcastle Upon Tyne Wedding Photographer
A & Q on the coast of Sicily.
Whether you're newly engaged or knee-deep in planning, it's completely normal to feel unsure about what to even ask a wedding photographer. I get it — this isn't something most people do every day! So I’ve pulled together some of the questions I get asked the most, not just to give you answers, but to help guide any couple getting married who wants to know what they should be asking.
“Can I see some full galleries?”
Absolutely. The images you see on my website are some of my all-time favourites — they showcase my style and the kinds of moments I love to capture. But they are just a small slice of the full story. If you're keen to dive a little deeper, I’d first point you in the direction of my blog, where you’ll find more detailed looks at real sessions and wedding days. And if you’d like to see a full wedding gallery start to finish, just say the word. I’ve got some beautiful streamlined examples ready to go.
“How are images selected and delivered, and what’s your typical timeline?”
Such a good one. Here’s the thing — if a photo is good, it’s yours. I don’t believe in capping galleries just for the sake of it. That said, I’ll always give you a rough idea of how many photos you can expect so you’re not left wondering. I don’t use AI in my editing workflow — every image is carefully reviewed (more than once!) to make sure your gallery is full of memories that truly matter. Galleries are typically delivered within 8 weeks of your wedding.
“How do you collaborate with other vendors?”
I love this question. If a florist, stylist, or any other vendor was involved in making your day special, I’m more than happy to share photos with them — all I ask is that I’m credited when they use my work. If I know who your suppliers are, I’ll usually go ahead and create a little gallery just for them, using images from your full delivery.
It’s one of the parts of being a Newcastle Upon Tyne wedding photographer I genuinely enjoy — getting to champion other creatives and help everyone share the beauty of the day.

“How much of a deposit do you require? When is it due?”
To lock in your date, I ask for a 25% non-refundable deposit. This is payable within 7 days of receiving your quote. The final balance is due one month before your wedding day.
“What does ‘full wedding day’ mean?”
Full wedding day, for most, means prep to party — from getting ready through to the dancing and all the wildness in between. The day tends to run for around 8 to 10 hours, and how you use that time is totally up to you. The only thing I ask is that there isn’t a large, unstructured gap during the day where you are seeking to split the time. The 8 to 10 hours does include a small lunch break for myself and we can discuss where best this fits into your timeline.

“What is your approach to family photos?”
I’m all about capturing the day as it feels — the in-between moments, the honest laughter, the gentle pauses. That said, I know family photos are important to some of my couples, and I’m always happy to make space for them. I usually attract couples who don’t come with a long shot list — but if you do want a few key group photos, we’ll work together to make it happen in a way that doesn’t pull you out of the moment for too long.
In some situations, I’ve found that when there are a number of group shots, nominating a guest to help round up the right people can be really helpful — and it tends to appease their insistence on contributing something meaningful to the day, too. A win-win!
